Home town girl with big dreams....that’s how to describe me from the time I was a kid until present day. I’ve gone from growing up in a small city in Northern Saskatchewan, Canada to the sunny landscapes of Southern California. Each day is a blessing for me. It still seems surreal that the dreams I’ve worked so hard to achieve are unfolding in front of me.

Name the sport and I’ve probably either competed in it or tried it at some point. Being active and pushing the limits is always something that I’ve done. I’m sure there were many times as a child that I drove my parents crazy with my latest adventures. I was definitely a Tom Boy.

My love of sports started at a young age. Before I even started school, I played T-ball and soccer and took swimming lessons. As the years passed, I progressed onto bigger things such as softball, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, Rugby and even Cheerleading. Besides those athletic endeavours, there are 3 sports that stand out on my Fitness Resume – Olympic Style Weightlifting, Kickboxing and Figure competitions. Within each of those categories are passions at which I’ve excelled.

There was a period of a few years in my life when I got comfortable and wasn’t overly concerned with being fit. A bad relationship and poor self esteem caused me to put on weight. I wasn’t feeling good about any aspect of my life. In fact, I was numb to the world. After a move from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to Calgary, Alberta – I started to come alive again. Then one day I had an Ah Ha Moment. It was in the car on the way to the gym. A light bulb went on and at that second I knew I was going to start competing in the Fitness Industry. I needed a definite goal to keep my mind and body on track. Little did I know at the time what that was going to mean!

I found a Trainer and started dieting for my first show back in 2005. Since then, I’ve competed at a variety of competitions including entering the 2009 WBFF Alberta Championships where I placed first in the Figure Tall class and also took the Overall Figure Title – earning my Pro Figure status.

In order for me to obtain success, I know there is a key element that needs to be in place – a strong, trusted support network. Within that network are family, friends, Fitness Peers and of course my fiancé James - all of whom are looking out for my best interests. Even though, I am an individual on stage or in front of the camera, it takes a team to get me there.

Going forward, my goals are to inspire others to make healthy changes for themselves, feel good about their own well being and spread the word about the love of fitness!

Goals and Ambitions:When I first started competing, my goal was to turn Pro.  I achieved that.  Then I wanted to be published in print magazines.  I achieved that.  Now, I just want to have fun, be fit and inspire and motivate as many people as possible.

Hobbies and recreational activities:The gym is one obvious answer for hobbies and recreation.  I also like to write, watch TV when the time allows and I also enjoying baking.  I find it relaxing and it can feel  almost therapeutic.

Favorite exercise:My favourite exercise depends on the day and my energy levels.  Some days, I prefer to lift heavy.  So any exercise where I can max out or beat someone else in the gym is always a good thing.  Other days, I just want to sweat it out with some heart pounding cardio.

Favorite Book:There isn’t one particular book that I’d say is my favourite.  Although, I do like reading True Crime books or anything to do with self improvement, health and fitness.

Favorite Cheat foods:I love cake!  White cake with white butter cream icing....and the icing always comes off first.  I also really like the chicken wings my fiancé James makes.  And a juicy bbq burger or pizza with lots of cheese can be good, too.

Favorite Movie:In a general sense, I like comedies.  But a couple of my all time favourites are Finding Nemo and The Little Mermaid.  I guess you could say that I’m a kid at heart.

Favorite Music: Anything with a good beat that can get me moving.  Most of the time, my mood at the moment will dictate what genre I feel like listening to.

Favorite body part:If it’s my own, I’d say shoulders or back.  I have a love/hate relationship with my legs.  It takes a tremendous amount of work to get them in the condition I’d like them to be.  When they do get to that point, I think my legs can look pretty good. On my man, I like thick shoulders and a nice, perky behind.

What is in your Locker Room or Gym BaG:My gym bag also happens to be my purse.  So, there’s a little bit of everything in there.  You’ll find a lock for my gym locker, iPod, sometimes a digital camera, gum and before I head to the gym, I usually stuff my sweat towel and lifting belt in there, too.

Advice for the begginer:I hear a lot of aspiring Fitness competitors say to me, “I really want to compete!’  Then I’ll ask them why.  Their usual response is, “Because I want to go Pro.” There needs to be an in depth reason to put your mind and body through what it takes to compete.  So ensure your expectations of your experience are inline with the goals you want to achieve.  Do your research, attend shows, talk with experienced Athletes and more importantly – do it for yourself and have as much fun as possible!
